How it all came about! By Anthony Hobbs, Director.

I am Anthony Hobbs, director of Anthony James Properties, but most of you are likely to know me as Tony. Property is a real passion for me!

I first began my career back in 2006 as a trainee negotiator for a well-known, high street estate agency. I quickly fell in love with the industry and progressed through the ranks to become a top performer within the region. In August 2009, an opportunity arose to set up and manage a sales office for a highly respected, local letting agency. The sales office was successful, coming from scratch to become one of the market leaders within just a few years. Although I enjoyed the position very much, I always knew I would never be entirely happy until I ran my own estate agency.

One day, during February 2014, I stumbled across a small high street premises that was available for rent in Dibden Purlieu - the old ‘fancy dress’ shop. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to have a viewing. It was in a bad way, but it was perfect! Positioned within an affluent village location with plenty of passing trade and easy access to the entire waterside area. I quickly decided that I had to grab the opportunity. So I sold my house, sold my stake in the previous company (we parted on good terms and I am still very fond of the team), took out a business loan and ‘jumped straight in the deep end’!

After an awful lot of hard work, Anthony James Properties was opened in May 2014 with a team consisting of just myself and Dan Barrington. Since then, the business has grown rapidly. We now have a team of five and are in the proud position as the leading estate agency for The Waterside area, consistently selling the most properties in our patch (data taken from an impartial report carried out by www.rightmove.co.uk).
